For commuters it's much harder to make friends than it is for residents. We have to make much more of an effort to meet people. I know this can be very frustrating. It is hard to go up to someone you don't know and just start a conversation. So, in the following weeks I will give you a little advice of what I have found has really helped me. The first tip is:
1. Join clubs! This is the ultimate way to find people you have common interests with. I know it can be difficult to join clubs because clubs usually meet a bit late, but there are a couple clubs I have found on campus that are commuter-friendly and join earlier in the day or just meet a couple times a month.
The first club you should probably join is the commuter association! How? Well, go into the commuter lounge. This lounge is in Walton in front of the famous Jammin' Java. Once you're there look for Gabriella (If you don't know her, just ask someone else in the lounge. They'll probably know), and she will add you to the email list! She will send you weekly emails about upcoming events! We usually meet at 10a.m MWF. Here you can meet a lot of other commuters that are going through the same things you are!
If you are interested in Hispanic culture you should join LASO! They have parties, where you can eat different foods, learn how to dance Salsa and other Latin American/Spanish dances, and watch cool movies! They are trying to make their meetings early, because the president of the club is also a commuter.
If you like out doors you should really think about joining the outdoors club, you don't have to attend all the meetings but they have very fun activities. You can pick and chose which ones you are interested in.
These two last clubs often have signs posted on their next meetings all over the school, so it is very easy to contact them.
Weather for this week:
Yay! I love your blog! Marta will be happy that you're promoting LASO jaja. We're each other's #1 fans :D Keep doing what you're doing! I love it!
