Feliz Navidad!

Fellow commuters!
I hope your finals have gone smoothly, that you have not been too overwhelmed with all the assignments, and the traveling back and forth from Eastern to your home has not been too terrible. Today, I am going to write to you about some of the events we are planning as commuters for next year; there are several options, if you could please vote for one that most interests you in the comment section.
1. Plan a trip to Philly. Here, we could have a small tour of the city, we could shop, eat different foods, etc...
2. Have a potluck dinner. This event we would host in the school, and everyone would bring one of their favorite dishes.
3. Have a movie in the school. We could also bring some snacks. If you have any movie requests write them down in the comment section below as well.

I hope everyone has a great winter break! Until next year compaƱeros! :)

Yours truly,
Michelle

transportation, transportation

So, as I had mentioned in former blogs the many ways in which we get here. I have been very lazy about biking every day, because it has been getting so cold. So, when I told my friend, he sent me a link to another blog. This blog is about how to prepare for biking in the winter. I will post it on here for any of you biking commuters:

I also wanted to write to all the students that take public transportation every single day. Our Commuter President, Gabriela, is trying to get all the commuters that take the train and bus everyday to sign a petition. They are trying to find ways in which these commuters do not have to pay as much for transportation, and a way in which we can get a discount as the school for these train tickets. I recommend that you talk to Gabriel to find out how you can be a part of this.

I wish you the best luck in finals!

want a break from studying?

Well, finals are coming up and most of you are probably swamped with all the work that you have to do. I know I am! Ah, and you know what I need? A break! Sometimes when we have so much work, and so overwhelmed all we can think about is work and tests. We get so stuck in our academic world that we forget to take some time and rest. So, I am recommending you to take a short break this weekend! You could just watch a movie, hang out with friends... If you want something more interesting I know there are a couple more events going on this weekend. One of the events is a Salsa party. It is going to be in a dance studio in Philadelphia on Friday afternoon. The Vans will be meeting in the Gym parking lot at five o' clock. So, If there are some of you that live in Philly this can be perfect for you! You can just meet us there, and then leave on your own. This should be a nice break from tests, and you can learn how to dance, or if you know how to dance you can show off your skills ;)

Back from Thanksgiving Break!

Hey everyone!
How are you all doing today?
I was talking to some commuter friends and I noticed the many ways everyone gets to school. I bike here, I have friends that take the train, bus, walk, and others drive.
So, I wanted to know how you get here..
I made a poll, and it is located on the right of the page. :)
It would be really cool to see the variety of answers

Meeting people part DOS.

Hello fellow commuters!
I hope you have been doing very well in the past two weeks!

So, as I mentioned before it is much harder for us commuters to meet people than it is for residents. So here I will give you some more tips on meeting people :)
If you do not live too far try staying on campus as much as you can! Don't just stay for your classes and then leave. Where to go? The Commuter Lounge! Don't be afraid to start a conversation with someone, odds are they are having the same difficulties you are! Plus, you already know you have something in common.
I also recommend staying on campus for a night if you have any resident friends! I just stayed with my friend this past week, and it was really fun! I had a better feeling of what the college resident experience was like. You might get to meet people in their halls that you hadn't met before.

Now I will give you the weather report for this week :)

Glass Half full :D

This week I realized how much I enjoy being a commuter! I have been complaining about commuting in a lot of my blogs, so I decided to write a blog on three reasons I ejoy comuting,
Reason number one: We get to eat home cooked meals! All this week I have been listening to people complaining about the food in the cafeteria, and I realized that I get to eat good food every single day!
Reason number two: We get to sleep on our bed everynight, and even better we have a litle more privacy! Imagine having to share a room with someone else you barely even know. Especially if you don't get along!
The last reason is why I decided to write about this topic in the fist place. After my classes and work I was extremely tired, so I decided to go to the commuter lounge and relax for a little while. When I went in some of the commuters were just in there singing, and improvising some random lyrics. This brightened my day. It was here that I realized what a wonderful community of commuters we have! We are all very different, and we all come from very different places, but we are all brought together into the same room: "The Commuter Lounge".

Here is one of the songs I enjoyed singing the most:

Inside the Loop

Hey everyone!
I hope you all have had an incredible week, and you have all had safe commutes to school. Hopefully the snow will have melted by tomorrow!!!

Were any of you able to make it to the Halloween activities this weekend? I didn't find out about them until Friday evening, by then it was too late to do anything. I have found it's hard to stay part of the college loop as a commuter. It's easier for residents because they hear about it in their hall meetings, and we obviously don't have any! So, from now on I'm going to make sure I find out about these activities and tell you about them! I haven't been able to find a good calendar with ALL the exciting things that are going on this semester, but I did find this site with many of the upcoming activities. I hope you find it helpful :)
